A Legacy Beyond a Lifetime
The Czochralski method was discovered in 1916 by Jan Czochralski in a Frankfurt laboratory.
Fascinated by this phenomenon, Czochralski investigated further, refining the technique to grow single crystals of various metals. He published his findings in a German scientific journal under the title “Ein neues Verfahren zur Messung des Kristallisationsgeschwindigkeit der Metalle” (“A New Method for Measuring the Crystallization Rate of Metals”), marking the formal introduction of his method.
